Me and the fam did our annual and centuries old New Mexico tradition. Farolitos (or luminarias depending on what part of the state you’re in) on Christmas Eve. Basically a brown sack with sand and a candle.

I like this- a couple blocks from me the whole neighborhood does this. Cars line up and drive through the neighborhood every Christmas Eve.
It’s pretty special.

That’s awesome and so cool it’s in Iowa! I would not be surprised if the originator of that was from New Mexico. There are quite a few neighborhoods that go full tilt here. The best ones are the upper class neighborhoods, cause they pay people to put out so dam many of these!

There’s even a local building supply business that has provided free play sand to fill bags for 25 years now.
