Anyone know if large liquidambar cuttings will take? Neighbors fell their yard tree. For fun, I grabbed a few chunky cuttings and dropped them in a well draining substrate. The tree just started to leaf out. Will these root like a huge bougie cutting?

I have had cuttings of about a foot root, but I took them from dormant plants. Anything bigger seems to be less ideal, smaller is even better.

Liquidamber has been difficult to root here. I get a few but most do not strike. Strike rate could vary between the species and depending on conditions. The only strikes I have had are smaller new growth. I don't think really thick ones will root well but you should put some in just to prove me wrong.
