Ok, before everybody says you can't do ROR and use a smooth rock and ginseng and all that - I KNOW!! I just like the way it looks! But I've been able to keep the moss alive for a while now, I've tied all the root much tighter, and over all I think it looks pretty cool.

As to the moss, I'd remove it where it's covering the soil, it will do you no good and hold water in the soil for longer than Ficus will tolerate.

Well yes and no. It behooves you to listen. There is a reason to their madness, just learn to filter through it properly. In the end, you do not have to do everything or anything they say.
