Larix Decidua styling decisions

After a near fatal stupid rookie repotting mistake last year, my Larch is ready to spring back to life, minus many lower branches. I really wanted to create a formal upright style but not sure if that’s still a great idea.
So I’m looking for opinions on trunk chop, formal upright or air layering.
