Large Suthin JBP

Here’s a pretty good sized JBP I purchase from Suthin during his sale in 2016. It’s an old imported tree had quite a journey. It was in Houston for a couple of years. I then took it to Hayward to stay in Boon’s garden. Boon moved a couple of times - first to Valley Springs and then to Sacramento while I was moving and settling in to my new place in Virginia. Two years ago, my entire collection from Boon made the trip to Connecticut with John Kirby. I met John in Harrisburg PA with a trailer and picked all the trees up at Sean Smith’s place. So Japan -> Massachusetts-> Houston -> California -> Connecticut -> Pennsylvania -> Virginia. A world traveler. Here’s the tree in 2016 at purchase:

Great tree! It looks substantial in the photos. A Shiner included in the picture might help with scale... either that, or a mug of hot chocolate.

Not much of an idea about its history before Suthin. I’ll ask him what he knows the next time I see him. I had the impression that it might have been imported quite a long time ago (maybe the 80’s) and passed through several owners before he bought it.
