BRT'S are a great specimen if a large portion of the year is spent indoors.

I am planning on keeping it indoors mainly... I am in the Chicago area and winters can get dicey

Just bought a grow light for the trees that will be brought indoors for the winter, only issue is it has a purpleish tint to the light but if its good for the trees... good for me

I buy mine in Denver. Thats where I first learned about Bonsai about 40 years ago. And while I am there, I visit my brother.
I live in the San Diego area now. I have three in training pots and will send some pictures as it is night time now. Mine are outside all year unless I hear we are getting some frost.
Good choice of a tree.

I have purchased almost all of my tropical's from Wigerts. Andrea there is great and will be happy to send pictures for you to choose from. They have a lot more than is listed on their website, you just have to ask if you're looking for something in particular.

Although I am almost 5 hours south of you, mine are usually inside from Oct-April. We have had a warm fall, so they are still outside but coming in this weekend. Steady 40 degree lows forecast for next week.

Where in Denver? I have a small one from The Bonsai Nursery, but not nearly as large as the one from Wigerts.

How well does the Brazilian Raintree grow in New Zealand - zone 10b ?
I would assume well. It did fine for me outdoors all year in zone 9b (Southern California). Now I have it in zone 8a (North Carolina) and I brought it inside for three months during the winter, but otherwise it's been on my bench the entire time.

Bonsai Nursery on Sough Federal blvd. the same one. They are small, but here in Southern California, they grow fast. Where I live we have a 10 month growing season.

We had no frost last year, but we do get it and I have to pay attention to the weather. We also live in a low lying area. I agree with Bonsai Nut, it should do fine in zone 10b.
