Beginner here first wiring and manger reshape of a Juniper

I have bought a Juniper Stricta from a garden center and was just wondering that would be the best style to aim for with this upright growing tree

If I bend branches, will they stay to the shape or revert to the upright growing of this tree

Without seeing the tree, my first inclination would be to style the tree like an old spruce or fir.
Wire your keeper branches down to give impression of age. Repeated wiring may be necessary for the species. The tips may try to reach for the sky but the branches will eventually stay put.

The Stricta will just grow straight up so a formal upright style would be best IMO.
But the Stricta is not the best species for bonsai, you better buy a Procumbens for bonsai if you want a needle juniper.

Standard stuff, you see those in every garden center in the Netherlands and if you look at the plantpassport it probably says it is produced in the Netherlands.
Good luck making a bonsai out of it.

Stricta is difficult to style but it grows fast and it's very accepting to grafts.
It's hard to keep in shape, but a bunjin or literati might work.
They're pretty forgiving too.

When I started bonsai the Stricta was one of the first that I practiced with.
They are for forgiving and cheap, but they sting like a needle.
Cheap way to play with wiring and styling.
Mine is still going after five years.
It will never make a top specimen, but I keep it on the background as a memory of the first try.
