Juniperus Chinensis 'Shimpaku' #86

Nice running foliage this year. Will let grow out. Planning on cuttings next year after fall wiring comes off.

This hasnt been easy to water lately. Pot wouldnt perk at all... since I hadnt gotten a good water on it in a few weeks, I decided to do an immersion watering to make sure the shin area wasnt too dry. A quick 4 minute dunk and the pot was draining no problem. Its getting a repot next year. Into a better substrate.

Repotted today. Excited to see how it does this year. Will be rooting the runners too. Will strike them in may ish.

Your roots went from pic 9 to pic 8 in this repot? Wow, I have been way too conservative in my repots if junipers in good health can handle that!

Hey, sorry just seeing this note now. Yeah, correct. Hasnt missed a beat yet. Ill ve getting fertilizer baskets on it shortly as well - probably three baskets with organic fertilizer.

Did some light cleanup on this. needs to get sprayed with a miticide - has a small infestation on one branch. Its grown well though. Removed weeds, struck a new set of cuttings since earlier ones taken died,.. the back is a bit flat. Need to figure out how to use one of the extra apex branches for the back. The back thicker branch Ill layer next year. Can never have too many shimpaku.
