Hopefully the male just had to acclimate to your area and will bloom at a more consistent time, and hopefully while your female is flowering. I'm assuming the male was grown somewhere else in the country? It can take at least a full year in a new environment for them to acclimate to your local climate. The male and female plants did not bloom at the same time. We will see this year.
If they both don't ever sync up, you could try looking at nurseries for male plants that are flowering while your serrata is, and cut a few flowers off and take them home to pollinate yours. (Curious to see if a straight verticillata could pollinate a straight serrata, or at least trick the plant into setting sterile fruit).
I had to do this for my 'red sprite' to set fruit, even though I have a mature winterberry in my landscape. This sets fruit with no male around, so whatever variety it is, it's parthenocarpic.
More trouble than it might be worth, but you also could find a suitable male and store the pollen in the freezer. If done correctly, the pollen should last at least a year.
Good luck, I hope they flower together this year!
