Jaboticaba top heavy

The insert was a de-barked trunk, tapered and shoved with in interference fit, with a dusting of rooting hormone This may give me a 2nd mature Jaboticaba if it works.
nah, this will give you a dead branch in a pot with a foreign object shoved up its ...

I'll see how my Frankenstein Jaboticaba goes, it's in a hot/humid terrarium now that helps growth. Past clip and grow efforts with Jaboticaba have been fails, whereas other trees succeed oftentimes.

Any insight into this guy's technique below? For translation: he puts oat seeds in the trunk to generate roots, a technique from his grandmother. I have no verification that it actually works. Interesting though.

I bet that works as well as putting a succulent inside a jabuticaba branch.

That about sums it up.

<Deletes what I was writing>

Seriously though, there's plenty of info on here about air layering, taking cuttings, root grafting, etc. I would search here before a random Youtuber's grandmother 😉

No habla nada, but the oats don't have anything to do with rooting other than perhaps providing a gooie media into which to grow. Most Spanish/Portuguese speaking places are tropical/semi-tropical so rooting a Portulacaria in such places wouldn't be difficult, even a large one as depicted. They are so easy to grow, even mine looks good in the depths of winter... 20210116_165947.jpg
