I picked this up today at an open house meeting. I just wanted to know if I was off to decent wiring. Thanks!

Did you plan to add movement using wire? Looks like wired but not twisted?

lol I had hoped. It’s super early in development. I’ll keep working with it.

Yeah just seems like good idea to exaggerate bends while young as they will lessen as tree grows. Not sure how flexible this is as always a risk to break and not sure if now is best time of year to bend or not. Others might know more on that. I only have 2 junipers amd one is flexible and one is more brittle

Aluminum wire gauge is too small to put proper bends in. Also, i usually would say wire in fall, not spring. right now sap flow makes thicker branches brittle while there is less potential for breakage when sap flow is reduced.

Not sure whats going on with the wire at the base of the tree. In a small pot like that, one possibilty to anchor a wire for initiating trunk movement is to snake it tgrough the bottom drainage hole and hold it there while you put your first few loops on the trunk. you can cut it flush after so pot sita flat.

The angle of your wiring looks decent, but is a bit loose.

Okay, I’m gonna be honest here, in an effort to help.

First, as @Orion_metalhead said, the wire gauge is too small.

Second, there are gaps between the wire and the tree, try to get the wire tighter.

Third, this whip is young and insubstantial. I’d recommend rewiring it and twisting it up as much as possible and letting it grow. I have a similar one I bought when I was starting out that I did that too. Now it’s thick with a lot of movement, and it should make a nice tree soon. (6 years later.)

Thanks for asking for other opinions on your tree.

Concur with all the above. Yet perhaps best to just leave it as is right now and rewire again to do the above improvements ,in the fall.

In the interim, in case you are interested, here are three videos we have our study group folks use to help them get in the zone.
