Is there a nursery comparable to Wigert's on the west coast?

I had seen it favorably mentioned several times, so I took a look and was impressed with their selection of pre-bonsai in particular. I haven't yet found any nursery on the west coast that carries such an abundance. Does anyone know of one? It would be mail order.

Because of Wigert's location in south Florida, they are a great place to go for tropicals. I have a Brazillian Rain Tree from them that I am quite happy with. However just as they are strong in tropicals, they aren't going to have much in the way of deciduous or winter hardy conifers.

@Brent is going to be one of our top recommendations for shippable pre-bonsai, since he has such a breadth and depth of selection... though it all depends on what you are looking for. There are some specialists out there who deal with yamadori... but the $$$ are going to match the effort involved.

Conversely, if you are looking for something specific, you can always post it in the "looking to buy" forum and a member might have what you need. I've gotten numerous trees that way.

Thanks. As I can't say what species until I've seen it, my general aim is decent pre-bonsai at reasonable prices. Variety is a good thing.

I plead ignorance. I am really new around here and I'm still finding my way around.

Dont worry, it can all seem very overwhelming. You'll get there.
Focus on a few things at a time to make it easier.

Also make sure whatever it is you are buying can handle your climate

Mentioned above, but these are our local shops with some details about what I think they excel at:

Maruyama (amazing azaleas, a few imported white pine, lots of black pine, hornbeam and juniper, several incredible collected Sierra juniper and a few ancient olives from an orchard currently in stock; best place to get pumice, lava and akadama - bring 5 gallon buckets)
Evergreen Gardenworks (mostly mail order, but can visit in person by appointment, terrific starter and pre-bonsai material)
Ron Anderson (newer nursery with some interesting stuff, plus closest to you and great people; good classes)
Lotus Bonsai Nursery (can visit in person by appointment, good pot selection, collected Sierra junipers and other mountain trees; classes and collecting trips available)

Peter Tea Bonsai in Auburn has a large selection of very high quality bonsai as well as soils, wire, pots etc...
Peter is also a great instructor for intermediate to advanced level bonsai hobbyists as well as offering other bonsai services,

I really can’t recommend Brent at Evergreen Gardenworks enough. I have seen so many amazing threads on this site alone from material he has started.

It's a little leggy right now due to peak growing season.

Looks like a nice, small spinner....yellowish new growth a bit concerning...I wonder if it's a function of using that pond basket? Reaction to the bark in the mix? Scoosh too much sun?

get's more sun this year than it's been used too.......turface/bark/peat/gravel.....I'm less concerned than before?
