My family and I recently hiked to Williams lake about Taos New Mexico. Such a gorgeous and mildly strenuous hike. 2.1 miles up with 1500 ft elevation gain. It was wild seeing some of the mountain sides that experienced 100+ mph winds that knocked over entire mountainsides of spruce, fir and aspen. (See pics). There were also a load of inspirational high alpine conifers with single apexes and some with multiple apexes. Perfect representations of formal and informal uprights. Hope you enjoy the pics.75BB35B8-0FBF-4CC3-BDFB-638493E2868C.jpeg

Photo dump and other general inspo. A dope waterfall and some cool trees I wish I could have collected.

all of this foliage was growing from a root that was exposed with the tree above it being from the same roots.

Not from there. I don’t think I could get a permit in this wilderness. @Colorado and I have trip planned in a few weeks to a spot near here though. The Carson National forest at about 9600 elevation with loads of grazed englemann, Doug fir, white fir and some aspen I found last time I was out. Gonna be a fun 3 day 2 night campout! I already bought the permit that slots for 20 trees in total. Stay tuned!
