If you could have any one and only one book about Juniper Bonsai what would it be?

My wife picked up this book for me as an anniversary present (along with the pine book from Stone Lantern). It has a lot of great information and has diagrams for technique. It also features progressions of different varieties of junipers into world class bonsai. I love this book and if you are looking for one, pick it up, you won't be disappointed.

We get this question about twice a year. I used to respond with specifics like Yoshimura's book, the most extensive and grounded in fundamentals. Then I realized most people are looking for the more flashy items and Yoshimura's book is way to old and conservative for most people today.

So I am left realizing that there is real no "one book covers all" out there. No one book can possibly allow for all of the different environmental conditions bonsai are grown in. No one book can possibly cover all the different cultural nuances that influence the art and give them justice. No one book and give advise that will be accurate over the wide world of the practice of bonsai. I presently own about 25 of them and if I throw out Yoshimura there is not one left that would be a good one river that floats all boats.

Especially no one book if it was written in Japan like the BT book (compilations of many BT articles).

i own as many bonsai books as any enthusiast and, after the initial read, most of them are left to collect dust on the bookshelf or tossed on the back of the toilet for the occasional perfunctory glance.

the only ones I have read and re-read (cover to cover) are naka, koreshoff and lenz. of those, i pick up & re-read the lenz most often --- at least twice a year. it is, admittedly, a zone and task specific work; however, for me that is also its appeal.

Ordered that juniper book from st

I've been flirting around ordering this book for awhile, and I really need a good book on juniper, they are definitely one of my favorite species. So I just ordered it from stone lantern today. Juniper s are awesome so So malleable, I don't think anyone could argue y that they are the most abstract species aesthetically...

btw guys, Espirit Bonsai is a great magazine that's going to be published in english this fall. Much more 'advanced' and interesting articles than BFocus.

Aaiiiiiyyyy. Now you had me looking for another magazine (again)!

Thanks one and all. My library, started late 1980s, is probably a bit larger than average. I of course have favorites, but thought I would get a sense of what today's bonsai folks thought about juniper books. I appreciate. Thanks again.
