Did you repot it already this spring? If so I would let it grow, harden off, and then you can go back in later in the season and cut back to buds.

Yes I repotted just a few weeks ago. Home Depot tree that just had a really cool root ball above grounds. I saved about 95%!of the roots because I used that huge plate pot

Leave it alone and let it recover, sit back with a beer and admire your handiwork until next spring

Don’t pinch spruce. Wait for the new shoots to harden off, then you can cut back. They set buds like crazy. Pinching just weakens the tree when it’s trying to grow roots.
