I grow small trees in various “containers”

Hey man, thanks for being there for the rest of us! I know it's hard to do, but when you're up against it, remember who loves you and turn to them.
Bonsai is wonderful therapy, personally.
You have some interesting stuff. I think the really red one is a sweetgum and the one after that, the variegated pink edged one with the ugly graft, I believe may be a Kagari nishiki and I would cherish and nurture that baby. It's rare and unusual and very hard to get. One that's listed in all the maple catalogs, but almost always out of stock.
Unfortunately, I passed that one on, but I know a small maple only nursery that has 52 varieties and a bunch of those and it’s at his house.😉

I gave up alcohol about three years ago and will never go back to drinking. It's worse for mental health than most people realise. The longer you stay away from it, the less you want it.

And yes bonsai is great therapy. :)
I know it, but that’s how the Army teaches you to deal with combat issues and then it snowballs. More deployments=more drinking. Especially, since we lived in post housing. Hear neighbor’s screaming through the walls because of nightmares. Everyone was fucked up mentally and just about everyone turned to the bottle.

Does anyone in my area know of anyone that really likes Birches? @pandacular do you know anyone in Seattle bonsai scene that loves paperbark birch. Need to find a home for my good ones. I’m failing my trees at the moment since I’m working on other projects and want to find legit homes for them.

I can't say that I do off the top of my head. I hear a number of people talk about them, but mostly in the context of having trouble with them. I definitely like them in the landscape, but haven't tried any as bonsai.

Even if they go to someone for free, im good with it as long as they know how to keep them alive and know what they’re doing

Thank you sir! I’ve been working the roots back for a couple years while in the ground. It came out of the ground really easy and hasn’t skipped a beat. Could be something special one day. I’m in love with it, but I need to let it go to someone who can take it to the next level. Too bad everyone hates on birches. They are quite easy once you get the hang of them.

I’ll ask around, but can’t make any promises. I like the first one myself, but would need to find some space for it as my garden is quite full. How much sun do you give these?
they know how to keep them alive and know what they’re doing
not sure this applies to me really😆

The first one gets morning sun, the big one gets afternoon sun. I have others in all day sun.
