It is forming lots of branches. The question is, what is the finished product you're going for? Tall & thin, short & fat, multiple-trunks? Central leader? The vision of the finished product determines the plan.

Looks like it needs a lot more growth to fatten up the base, but Brian is right in that you need a vision for it first. Google Japanese maple bonsai and look at some images to get some ideas.

Another newbie here too with the same questions. So I should just let the tree grow until it's 4-5 years old and has somewhat of a base before cutting and pruning it?

In England, I can gets good half inch trunk width growth (from thin pencil thick starter trees) a year when planted in the garden. Some what slowed down by placing a tile under the tree to force root growth horizontal. Next year I would expect at least an extra inch. So duration depends on the size of tree you want. I would dig it up after 3 years to sort the roots whatever size tree you want , some careful wiring might be useful now before they get too thick to bend, but take care to avoid scaring the trunk.

At the same time would like to fatten up the trunk also have it turnquit above the graph . A few inches under the soil structure

Thanks. If you plan to layer it, I'd suggest letting it grow in a larger container for a year or two so the trunk is a bit thicker. Mine layered without any problems, but on 1" or more diameter branches. Layering will get you started on the right foot with the nebari.

Wood a 3 gallon be significant this is a 2 gallon smart pots sold together to get The graft turnquit deep enough below the soil also trying to create more branches to help the thickening process just don't know if I just let it go or do I need to make a cut to create more branching Understanding the branching are far from my concern but my understanding more growth equals larger truck

Don't bother with new containers until next spring. Just keep it growing and keep it healthy until then. You can slip-pot it slightly deeper in the spring if your plan is to ground-layer it above the graft union, and then you can do the ground layer in May. It will look like this. Do some reading on the subject first, there's plenty already written:

More growth does thicken the trunk faster, so no need to chop, prune, or cut anything if you're going for a bigger trunk. No guarantees on what it will do for your vehicle, however.

Thank you just what I was looking for at the moment I have not cut the bark but I do have a ware wrapped around just above the graft someone told me in previous posts to just wrap a wire around just above the graft union . And Burie below the soil will Make the trunk swell and roots will form below the wire in a year or two is this correct. Thank for the help will definitely do some reading

Yes, that can work, but it is not as reliable as the method in the photos above.

Thank you at the time being I'll just leave the Ware on. Next spring I will cut the bark below the ware and slip pot for the time being I will keep it as healthy as possible thanks for your help
