How do you apply liquid fertilize to a large garden?

The reasoning I like to believe is that if the soil is already wet it will hold on to and absorb the liquid fert better. Because I’m using the pressure sprayer I only apply enough fert to each tree to give it enough for the week (I do this weekly). If the soil is already wet I don’t have to water each tree completely with the liquid fert but rather do my regular watering before hand to water them, then come back later to fertilize them.
Ok and thanks for the reply. How long do you wait after you water them before fertilizing?

This is a common practice in greenhouse production and substrate veggie production.
A couple of other reasons to water first then add fertilizers.
If the media is dry there is a chance you might damage the young roots with a rapid input of salts (fertilizers).
If you water first, then apply fertilizers, you will decrease the amount of water needed in the second application and push out the water lacking added fertilizers as leachate.

These might not apply to you depending on how dry your media gets or how diluted your fertilizer concentration is.
