How do I keep love for bonsai ?

I have several hobbies that I drift in and out of… bonsai being one of them. I have recently been "into" bonsai about 5-6 years. But, I was originally interested in bonsai over 20 years ago. I had a nice little Juniper that my estranged wife was nice enough to intentionally kill for me. So I was uninterested in bonsai for many years. For me the secret is having several hobbies, and moving from one to another. I always care for my tree, just with more enthusiasm at times. Some hobbies can be combined, such as bonsai and photography.

I sort of fell out of it in winter. I just didn’t have the time other than watering and not much for me to do other than water 1-2 times a week

But late winter, I knew I needed to get stuff done. Started planing again. Decided to binge Nigel Saunders and his videos have been a real motivator in the fact of “I should work on my stuff too!” and getting me in the repotting mood. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve had to do so far

I am a stubborn mule and love the challenge (as much as it frustrates me) . The fact that I haven't developed anything to brag about and frankly don't really know how to just yet fuels me to keep going with ferocity. It's when I'm able to turn to those whose trees I respect tremendously and say "you call that a bonsai?", that will be closer to the time I lose interest. Luckily, I am nowhere near that.
