How can I get bonsai stock ?

Nursery stock is all I have right now "So I gotta dance with who brung me"
😆
lol. I find random people on Facebook and buy stuff from there. I’m so lucky to have an online side hustle so I’ve like never spent money on bonsai and I’m proud of it 😂 ( I have like 10-15 trees and getting 3 more on Friday)

So currently I have been on the lookout for some trees under $100 and can’t find what I want. I want to focus only on Japanese maples , Beauty berry ,Shimpaku and Princess Permission. They all do amazing where I live. Also I just want them to be under a foot tall . So if you know anybody I can contact or if you have any I can buy please message me !
pm me for shimpakus you are looking for.

there are nurserys there, i wouldnt be directing you to some random guys house.
so with that in mind one can just google nurserys in your area and within a specific radius. maybe your paps can take you to have a look.

Holy crap your signature is an underestimation of your "obsession"

That and you obviously have more time than I do for this

Making all the tags is what takes up a lot of time as well as potting up the seedlings into individual pots.

Yeah I’m just gonna be looking for parent plants for now. So if anyone has a good Japanese maple that would like it help me out and I can pay $50.

You interested in a Mikawa yatsabusa?

Ok I’m really about to go crazy 😂 I can’t find material that I want. I just want okay- decent material for 20-135 but I want to be careful for what I pick .

Hm.. At the start of this thread there were a few good recommendations. Did you follow-up on them?

Kinda . I messaged Ed Clark , and Matt Ouwinga. Matt didn’t respond but Ed did . I will be buying a permission from Ed this month . So I think I should buy 1 or two more things but it’s so hard to find what I actually want

I don't have any suggestions for finding the stock you want. Just wanted to say kudos to you for being a picky shopper!

This is common when shopping online, just keep looking and be patient
Contact vendors via email or however. They often have more trees in stock than they have time to post online

Also there should be a value of bonsai thread talking about what makes a tree more expensive and what beginners should invest most in .

hah, unfortunately I think if you're thinking of it as a money making venture it might not work out so well. But I think you're doing what it takes to understand this piece of it, which is a lot of reading and researching.

Like others said, with nurseries opening soon you may have an opportunity to find things in person. There are always diamonds in the rough, sale items that actually look great, etc. Lots of surprises waiting out there. One of the benefits of trying to go slow is that you then have the budget for when unexpected gems pop up.
