Alright, here's my first post of a serious tree that I've worked. This is a Hornbeam clump that I picked up from Rob MacGregor of New World Horticulture. The trip took me 10 hours there and back and I walked off with 4 trees. Here are some progress pics.

haha lets not speculate, I was joking with him, it doesn't appear to be too much root work, but these trees can be difficult to grow, so I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't make it for one reason or another. you seal with with good ol vaseline? curious to know how those chops look now
 
Lol, it's not dead. Far from too much root work. I sealed the initial wounds with this:

I decided I don't like that as cut paste. It doesn't stay on the wound long enough. I use the clay stuff now.

Last spring I removed the trunk that was mostly dead and carved the chops down flush to the new leaders. It grew well, the wounds are healing well.

This spring it needs to be reduced and wired and then left to grow again.

I'll try to finally update this thread with some pics.
