help with Hawthorne

HI,

so this is a tree I purchased from a nursery bare root 2-3 years old and it's been growing fine, BUt I notices these things on it, and I ahve no idea what it is.
the orange is not any kind of bugs seems to be some kind so spores maybe?

any ideas???

The orange stuff is a fungus named cedar-hawthorn rust. This is very very common on young hawthorns that are not preventatively treated with anti-fungals. I would cut off infected twigs, then treat with an anti-fungal like daconil or mancozeb. In future years, to avoid the galls, do preventative anti-fungal treatments about every 3-4 weeks from spring through early summer.

Also clean pruners after every cut when dealing with fungus, we (at my job) cut 6in back on any infection
