I started a few trees from seed a bit ago, and got one flame tree to sprout successfully.
It's been about a week since it popped, but it hasn't managed to free itself from the shell. I've tried keeping it moist and gently picking at it a bit, but it's quite tough and I'm starting to worry.

Any help?

I tried uploading an image but it didn't go through. Trying again.

I’d say let nature do the growing up. It will happen when the time is right. It appears to be growing just fine and looks quite healthy. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I will be helpful if you add your general location to your profile.

Any idea what kind of tree you’re now growing?

gently picking at it a bit,
nope
it would be fine if you had never seen it out in the woods sprouting
trees can sprout and grow from under rocks and slabs of concrete
and their roots can ruin the foundation of a home or pavement
lay a paving brick on an acorn on top of the ground it will find a way out
