Happy fathers day, fathers of the world!
I made time today to help my dad install a new window, so he didn't have to go up the roof. Guess what? He fled to the other side of the country to have his other son prepare lunch for him.
Being the thankful kid I am, I relocated his fathers day present - a music sheet stand - to said roof. Just to let him know I was there when he needed me, don't worry, I also relocated some beer to the fridge ;-)

Gave my dad a nursery Mugo Pine and a print out of the @Vance Wood resource guide to establishing Mugos as bonsai. My dad had a major health scare this year from almost 45 years of smoking. He pulled through and is now 96 days without a cigarette. His lungs are still not in great shape but he’s getting better and I’m grateful for everyday I still get to spend with him. He was the reason I got in to plants in the first place so I thought it fitting.
And I spent some time with my kids going to several nurseries in Santa Fe, picking up a new Mugo for myself and a shimpaku. And on a side note, my 4 year old secured quality discounts for me at both spots!!

Good story though. We get to "see it" with our own thoughts.Happy Father's Day to all you dads. We"moms" appreciate all you do. Like the time you pulled our son's car out of the ditch at 3am, and didn't wake me up. Wait, I guess that's not relevant to everyone................

I also told little Elah today that this was her tree. Was happy to see that she was really excited about it and told everyone who came into the yard today. Then she also told them it had too many branches, smart kid.
Some kind of purple leaved maple that I found as a volunteer somewhere. Not a bad starter for a 4yr old I figure, hopefully it’s something special in 30 yrs or so
