The leaves died, then the branches died. It sat in the back of my grow tent as I was procrastinating throwing it away. I finally decided to toss it, when, lo and behold, it is showing signs of life!

I had a 4" base BC that died back and didn't bud out last spring. June I was about chuck it and saw buds a few inches up from base, by July it had 8 new branches. We will see how it survives the winter, but so cool when our trees power through.
