So like I said in another post, I plan on trying to show this ficus this fall. I am looking for suggestions on pots. I am thinking a little shallower, and a little less wide. I am having a hard time with the color, but maybe a cream or light yellow rectangle

I think something a little more feminine than what you're using now would go well with the Green Island leaves once they pop out. I'm thinking a rounded rectangle or even an oval pot, unglazed and a little more shallow. Cream seems like a good color to me, but maybe a very light blue or green would work as well. The daphne blue or seafoam green paint on the old '50s Fender Strats is what I'm thinking of, but it may be too distracting.

I think I'm on the same page as you. Thanks for your input.

Tom.

On the tree, the 2nd branch up (at right) seems too low that it is creating a cross with the lowest branch. It is possibly too long also. Check how it looks with it a bit higher by putting a chopstick section between it and the main trunk.

BTW, I am aware that the lower branch is going to the back. :)

Good luck!

I agree with your critique. I think between a slight angle change at repot, and wiring or thinning the back branch should resolve the issue.

Also, go a size smaller in pot...
the pot in pic is to big.

Yep, I'm thinking a bit shallower and less wide. It actually barely fits front to back so the depth can't change. Anyone want to share pictures of pots?

Hi Tom,
This is such a nice tree. John Romano has a beautiful shohin ficus. I can't recall what kind of pot he has it in though. Maybe he can send you or post a pic of his for an idea.

Thanks Rob, and good idea about asking John. I had brought it to class last weekend I should have asked them about the pot then.

I'm excited about this tree as well. It needs some ramification and wiring, bu ficus seem to develop pretty quickly so I hope this year goes well.

Thats a really nice table too....

Not sure about this pot... Works, but could be better,
but, at least you could see what it would look like in a
smaller pot...

You might check out Chuck Iker

He has some really nice smaller pots, for very reasonable
prices. I seen quite a few on his site, that would work
really well with your tree...
Not to mention he is awesome to work with, he made me
a pot for the specs I needed.
:)

I've been checking out Ikers pots and I agree that he has some I like. I like the below shape, but the colors not right. Thanks for the virt, I need to work on my photoshop skills so I can envision these things.
