Really excited about this recent acquisition from Zach Smith. Mr. Smith was kind enough to overwinter the tree for me and it is now officially on its way to me. The trunk is 4 inches thick 4 inches above the soil, so I am expecting the base to be huge.

P.S. Zach Smith is a great resource and, although you will be taking trees away from me, I highly recommend folks check out what he has to offer.

Nice looking tree with an excellent start. I like the BC but really don’t think it would survive my limited 5 month growing season and wickedly cold winters.

Really?

This interests me!

I just started growing them, up here... Testing the "bottom" of their hardiness range. 🤣

Is it very dry by you, or too hot.. or what?

I'm intrigued.

"Too hot" in Michigan? Now that's funny there...

Awesome tree. Is Zach back?

Everyone has different definition of Goliath. At first when I look at the picture, it does look like one but then I saw 4 in width.... this is Hulk Jr. size. Would have been my Goliath as well if I didn't have Hulk. Very nice looking tree though.
