And some chocolate ?
Exactly!... ...This is so cool I think we've all won here!
I know, just putting on a little pressureHey Fonz. Defra said he'll forward it today. Shouldn't take long between the NL and BE.
Thanks for the love people. It's really my pleasure.
@ERIKA sorry dudette . You were a little too late this time. but next year you might get lucky .
@JudyB I wanted to make it as nice as I could. Given that the pots aren't 'all that' yet, methinks that maybe a nice crate can gloss over some of the faults .
@Tentakelaertje thanks a million for the appreciation. Just falling back into rhythm and making them after two months pause. I'm learning... slowly but surely.
The kanji is a phonetic translation for 'Mihai'. A few weeks back, I found an antiques store/workshop in Kyoto with an elderly gentleman carving custom stamps out of stone. He made me one to use to mark the pots; and the three symbols on the crate are the ones on the chop. As these pots are the first two I've ever made and don't have a stamp, I figured that the box should. I was joking with Fonz and Defra that maybe in 20 years after I bite the bucket, having the first two Mihai Ardeleanu pots and crates ever made might be worth more than the clay and wood they're made of. For the new ones I make I'll also use a cat stamp in honour or my my fat, lazy, dimwitted, lovely neko ).
@my nellie in all sincerity I think this place is rather tame ). The masterpieces like to have a digital fist fight from time to time and measure their sacrifice branches (subtle metaphor for phalluses ) ) but I'd rather not take all that to heart. This place has too much knowledge/pixel to get riled up over stuff like that.
Let me tell you about divisive: a few months back, we had a pseudo-bonsai show in Romania. Most of you would laugh your asses off if you saw the material, but at least it was something.... an effort... a step in the right direction. Keep in mind that there are no more than 100 hobbyists in RO and not even a single true professional. Out of these, less than 20 have any passable material. Out of these, 10 showed up because the rest argued on local Facebook pages to a point of vulgarity that's hard to describe and couldn't stand to be in the same place at the same time. In the whole country one has been dabbling in bonsai for about 15 years another for about 10, and the rest are all under 5 years of experience. Yet they can't have any kind of discussion without arguing over methods (most of which they have never tried)... so yeah... Bonsainut is really civil ).
