Frustration with market

Here is the nursery in Atlanta, Maple Ridge Nursery. They have a great selection and trees of every size. I have used several of their trees in my landscape. You will have to look closely at the trunks, the grafts are not meant for bonsai. Some are suitable, you just have to look.
I have dealt with them a few times for yard maples. Reached out to them and all the trees they sell are grafted.

try contacting a seller, provide a general description of what you are looking for and a price range, and ask for pictures of what the seller has to offer that meets your needs.
keep in mind if your budget is low it won't be worth the seller's time to engage in a lot of photo/email exchanges with you.
most sellers are honest, but limited in time and details for selling inexpensive material.
Tried this a little bit. But as you said my price range probably not high enough yet.

This is the place for nice field grown maples at a great price. You have to follow close and then jump on it when you see one you like though. They go fast! That said, there are at least a couple of maples left as of this posting. https://cedarrosenursery.com/collections/deciduous-field-grown-bonsai
I second this. Cedar rose is one of the only places online I found that has actual pre bonsai material - as opposed to stick straight field grown material with zero taper. Cedar rose sells out really fast and i think he could easily sell twice (thrice?) the inventory if he was so inclined.

Green thumb is great for field grown material. I like international bonsai (Valavanis) for younger stuff. And Kaede en for smaller seedlings. I like Brussels a lot so it’s hard to say this, but the prices on their specimen Japanese maples are way too high. I’ve always got my eyes on one tropical or another on wiggerts but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

Frankly I’m surprised there aren’t more trees sold here on bnut. Rodeolthr had the right idea IMHO and I wish there was more.

D + E trees in Maysville GA specializes in field grown pre-bonsai. If I recall, you dig the trees but still worth looking into. www.tridentmaplesource.com.
+1 for D&E, Northeast of Atlanta, and he will actually dig them for you. Prices were cheap the time I was there. You’re buying trunks.
Trident maples, Chinese elms, Stewartia, JBP.

I regret never visiting there before moving 🤷‍♂️ .

It should be about time for @rodeolthr to hold his spring sales.
You are correct! I was just back in Seattle for a few days to attend the local bonsai society sale. My trees look great this year, which is definitely an improvement over last year where a lost many to peculiar weather. I should start selling by May 1st at the latest

I have bought from them a couple times. Seem honest.
Oh yeah. They just held their 2025 C’est Bonsai show and crawfish boil march 28-31. It was awesome! Very personable folks. Doug Green, the owner is cool as a cucumber. Evan Pardue the nursery manager and artist is a good guy too. Good artist, loves to teach. That place is growing fast! Here’s the shirt I picked up for C’est Bonsai 2025..as well as a photo of the huge trident maple forest Guy Guidry was demoing with stock from Underhill. And another of Guy prancing around and everyone dancing with the live New Orleans style jazz band that was roaming the grounds playing.

I also like them and hate to say it but I agree with this. The prices on their specimen trees have skyrocketed in the last few years. Of course a tree is worth what someone will pay for it. Someone must be buying them I guess, but not me for what they are.

Are addresses in USA useful for someone from Georgia?
I guess we are assuming he is in the state of Georgia USA and you think he is in the country of Georgia.
So until that is clarified, we wont know.... 🤣

*EDIT* just read up a couple of posts and he is in the U.S.

I so badly want to make a visit there but just the thought of that drive makes me cringe. I have family near Atlanta so one of these days I will make the trip

Thanks, guys, for all the leads and suggestions. I will be looking into these.

I still don't know anything, but I was looking at Bonsai Tree Learning Center in Raleigh NC recently and they have quite a few beautiful trees for sale
I know both Brad and Bryan. (Bryan outside of Raleigh and Brad outside of Charlotte). They are good and honest sellers and offer WYSIWYG trees on their site. They have many, many more trees at their two locations than what is on their web site. If you are looking for something in particular, shoot them and email and see what they have to say.

hm.. i made that mistake once, and thus clicked on the georgia link in the profile.. That went to the country..
Weird, I just clicked on it and it went to the state? Maybe because of your geolocation?

Where will you be selling these?

I typically sell my trees on eBay. I usually will post in the For Sale section of this site, to let people know when I'm posting. I'm still out of town until the end of the month, but hope to have my first sales going by the first week of May.
