Freeadori

Hey thanks guys. I'm obviously just winging it. On another thread it was talked about "being experienced". I agree that the best way to get experience is to just get out there and do it. "Just do it!" comes to mind. Or if you're a redneck like me, "Git er done!" Well, I'm out there getting some experience. Plus some back pains and blisters. I never thought dirt would get expensive, but I'm burning through some at a pretty good rate.

Si- I have no more property left to build planter boxes. I'm afraid I've used my land foolishly by having two koi ponds, pool, patio, firepit, and I can't forget the wifey and kiddos. Had a nice yard at one point. Now it's freakin nursery pots and what look like stumps everywhere! I'm weary of hearing "those don't look like bonsai"...... My reply being, "give me a few years".

That's a huge and beautiful backyard! LOVE THAT KOI POND! Some ficus bonsai with aerial roots would look really good around that pond wall.
You still have plenty of space left for more trees. I'd get rid of the grass. Forget the kiddos. :)
I found that one can cram a lot more stumps into a plantar box than having them separately in nursery pots. The yard would look a lot cleaner too. I hate the look of those black nursery pots. I should know because I have hundreds of them in my yard. In fact, you can put the nursery pots inside the planter boxes and make the yard look real nice and clean. The pots are not cheap either. But the bonsai hobby is still cheaper than your koi hobby.

Awesome job. Keep up the good work. I don't think I have ever ran across more than one or two decent trees for collecting at one time. Best luck.

Looks like most of those pictures were taken before the collecting began... Tim, has a beautiful back yard. It is a lot more cluttered these days though. Guess its time to build another structure, and move some stuff around... Ohh the love of bonsai!

One more pond to go and then maybe a greenhouse. :D
