One of my quinces decided to start opening up. It is now January 10 in Victoria, BC. I was planning to repot this about 7 years old tree in the spring, but now I'm confused. Any advice and recommendation from experienced bonsaists?

Nice! A couple of the quinces here are tossing flowers too due the warm weather.

Would stick the the normal schedule

Flowering quinces flower very early so that's normal. Leaves don't start opening until after flowering so it is still, essentially dormant. I repot after flowering.

Shibui, thanks. Now, about repotting quinces. Some sources say that fall time is better for that. What is your opinion on that?

My opinion, unsolicited as it may be, is that the old maxim about repotting in fall is because quince were believed to be especially vulnerable to infestation by nematodes, a notion that is now largely discredited. I have several quince, and they get repotted in late February to early March along with everything else deciduous.

Definitely have two schools of quince repotting out here. However the predominant schools in spring repotting, up potting every couple years.

I've only ever repotted quinces in Spring so can't comment on Fall repotting.
There's enough people doing it to be sure that Fall repotting works. There's enough people repotting in Spring to be sure that works too. Is one better than the other? I can't tell you that. It's probably another example of repotting opportunities being much broader than many have previously believed but we'll still see some armchair experts declaring that their way is the only way.
