So my dad was really into bonsai and I have this gingko he gave me a long time ago. Was a twin trunk and maybe a half inch in diameter and under a foot tall. Left it in dirt/garden pot a couple years. Neglected it a bit. Dog ripped it out of the pot once and chewed the rootball. Figured it was dead and put it back in the dirt and it came back. Few years later a puppy we got did the same thing! Learned and put it up on a shelf. Got about three feet tall and put it in my front yard for a year (I needed a landscape tree and my wife liked the leaves…) but then decided to change the yard so I dug it up. Was around five feet tall then. Chopped it down to ten inches and put it in a pot. Leafed out this year. Wife really digs it. Kinda cool. Don’t know what it will look like down the road but I’m learning about it now. Thought I’d share. I just bought a yellow pot for it for next spring. Prolly change the front a wee bit as that scar is eye poking me.image.jpg

You might want to start wiring the branches into place, unless you are growing them out more? If not looking to grow it out more, I would look to style it by the wiring and cut out the unwanted branches as well. I don't much about them as well but picked up one not too long ago and looking forward to learning more about them.

Thanks appreciate the reply. Just letting it grow this season. Pruning light come next year early and repot. I am not looking for movement in the branches. Wondering mainly about ramification really but just gonna see what the plant wants to do. Just gonna do the broom style with this.
