This one took a long time to get going, pretty much just sitting there with a meager crop of small leaves with just a few internodes. This one would absolutely explode with growth every March/April in GA, so maybe another to place under the "I got ignored while my owner tried to sell his house and definitely didn't get watered enough. It did spend the winter outside in it's big grow box, so that may have been a contributing factor. Any way, it started acting like a trident about mid to late June and has been slightly cut back a few times. A new front is in the works, as well.
So, I'll be fertilizing my evergreens today and raking the yard in shorts today... expected high around 80 F will shatter the old record. At least this guy knows it's fall...
Naked end of/New year shots today. This one is ready for some wire and a thread graft in the apex. The nebari has benefited from growing in the wide, shallow pot, but it's come at the expense of the overall vigor of the tree. I was hoping the last bit of trunk would have thickened more by now... . Shortening the trunk is always an option, but I think I like this one taller, so the sacrifice stays for another year or three.
My pot stretcher is broken so I needed an industrial sized shoe horn to squeeze this into this Dale Colchoy oval. Say a prayer for me, the pot and the tree next year when we repot
