Ficus root over rock attempt

My fiancé saw a few root over rock bonsai at a restaurant and didn’t believe you can grow them like that. So I wanna try to make one as a surprise for her
Maybe this is a tad too ambitious for my skill level, but I thought I’d have a go at it anyway.

My roots don’t quite reach the bottom yet, and I don’t wanna bury it for a year. So I got one with some defined textures where the roots can hold on and I can cover them with some soil

Why not bury it?? I thought roots expand quicker if you don't let the outsides harden and dry.. maybe your climate allows for it better

Can also try wrapping it in cling wrap or aluminum foil.
