All my English Hawthorn have a weird growth that forms at the base of the new shoots, effectively killing the shoot. It looks like a little orange worm curling around the stem.
I have several other Hawthorn, monogyna and media, and none of them are affected. I've never had anything like this, is this a gall? How do I treat it?1497798557822768157633.jpg

Looks like it has cedar-hawthorne rust or cedar-quince rust. Treat it with a fungicide such as Immunox or copper spray. Prune out the infected portions of the tree.

Thanks for the reply. I'll do some research on this. I have been removing all affected parts, luckily I missed one so I could get a pic.
