Empty shelves...Need trees.

This has turned out great. You have a talent for this work, is it what you do for a living? It's beautiful.

I am in the stone business but have not actually set much stone....These are the first brick I have ever laid.....I am pretty good at figuring out how to do just about anything.

The foundation is poured concrete with some rebar and wire....About 12" wide and 4 to 6 inches deep.

Foundation before pouring concrete....

I use those same bench tops too, except that I have the bottom pieces into which the legs lock so that it helps keep the benches level and the legs from wobbling. I've had mine for 5+ years now, and they still look like new. Another good thing is that they are lightweight, so I can move them to the garage for overwintering my trees.

You can buy them at: http://structuralplastics.com/cart/. S&H is not great, but overall they are worth every penny. Sometimes you see stores and others putting used ones up for sale too.

Pro I'm not unless it comes to stone drafting work....The little plastic level did work well for keeping the bricks going my way. Here is a daytime pics after the floor was sealed.

Your aussie seems to have enjoyed the project, they sure do like being with their human. Such a nice job!

Well after getting the shelves all set up I decided it would be easier to do the cap stone on top of the brick wall with the shelves out of the way. I got the brick work and floor finished tonight so it's time for the shelves to go back up. See below for a few progression pics.

Red Merle Aussie... :o gotta love Aussies.

Nice construction as well...

Hi wee, that is very nice work for an amature! I was making a joke about the plastic level:D. I did this type of work and had levels I paid over $200 for on sale. When you walked on a job and saw one of those, well you knew you were dealing with a real pro. Did you ever have to pop it on the side to get the bubble to center?

You did a great job if that's what you had to work with. Better than sighting through the pull tab of a beer can. I can't wait to se it all decked out.

Very nice. Very much deserves some trees.

That looks really great, nice work. Love the stones stepping to the back, will looks really cool with trees on it.

Got some of the shelves back up and my collected Yaupon Holly back on the shelves......Atleast 3 of the 4 are still living.

Got all the shelves back up and I need to get started digging....Seems all my CL leads to free shrubs to dig have fell thru and my shelves really do look empty now that they are all back up. I did add a shelve that I got for free to the shed to put all my empty pots on....I have way more pots than I do trees.

Brian, that is one slick set-up! You did really, really, good!

Only thing I would have done different is to move the shelves out of the stone tops...it would have worked as a shelf layer by itself. :)

I thought about that but it would have left little space for the floor area....It is not as big as it looks in the pics. I built the brick wall to fit the plastic shelves. Dario you could always send me some of your rejects.....You way more trees than you got shelve space....LOL

Brian

Indeed. If you are closer, I have several I can spare.

When I started, I didn't know I needed the shelvings. It just happened. :D

I was thinking the same thing. With the shelves built up over them...had the stone tops been left exposed...and the shelving stepping up behind them. I would have increased the area by allowing more trees in the future. Opening the area up a bit more. For the trees on the shelves will take up generally the same area as if the trees sat on the stone tops...is my way of thinking.

Still looks like an amazing display area! Great job!
Now...on a second note...love the door you have over the pergola...tons of character!

Thank Ya'll for the kind words....

I got tired of getting wet when it was raining and I needed to get into the shed....That is where the door idea came from. Neighbors 2 doors down replaced their french door so I got the old one and patched it up. Even gives my dog somewhere to lay and stay out of the rain.

On your wall corner...seems like the soil is right at the elevation of the top wall...you either lower the soil there (put a swale) or put a diversion berm so the water won't jump and flow towards your concrete floor. Simple fix that will help you enjoy your place much more later. :)
