Wait, that wattage is way too low. A huge Olympic track sprinter should put out like 1800 watts at the peak. 600 watts is what classics riders would put out over like 3 minutes.
Texas cyclists are just as crazy. Every August an event is held in Wichita Falls called "The Hotter than Hell Hundred", a 100 mile (or 100 kilometer) ride/race. Normal high temperatures are well above 100F at that time of year.
I have completed the 100 k version three times. The Wichita Falls area is also ugly as hell. I finally came to my senses and realized that if I wanted to ride 100 k, there are much nicer places to do it
