bad one in southeast MA where i am
hasnt rained in like 2 months, many/mostly +90* days
feel bad for the animals out there like deer and rabbits, etc.
my lawn is a memory at this point

another 90* day today

last year it rained like every weekend
was just talking about with coworker (tomato growers, taxpayers, so its noticeable)

its been a little tough on some of my trees this year, like my birds nest spruce got some browning on top
but it needs a prune anyway eventually i think itll cut out fine

hope your trees are holding up okay - ive been watering every day almost
ill upload some photos of my trees eventually, been a lot going on

@Fidur ive been seeing your work on reddit

We are in the same situation. no rain in a little over 2 months. Looking at Accuweather website, there is no rain forecasted till the end of August. I water twice everyday with my system. Most of my trees love this weather as long as you give them plenty of water, but my JM and JQuince (not the chojubai, those suckers are loving the heat), even though they are almost in full dappled shade from my bigger trees have the new (second flush) leaves scorched. I need to set up a shade cloth this weekend to help them a little bit more.

wild...in heat like this im thankful to work in an office
on weekends im up early and get things done, midday i retreat to the house,
then stay out until sundown in evenings lol

sounds like youre mitigating the conditions well - think i remember seeing an auto water setup by you?
typically i water by hand from rain water but shes been dry barrel and im using the hose lol

shade cloth helps, all my air layer acers would be fried if not for it, 40% shade

I work in an office as well, 8hrs flex time between 5:30-2:30, after that I try to stay home as well. Saturday and Sunday morning I do yard/trees/cars/whatever else is left to do in the house. I rarely go out in the summer time here in TX.

Yes, I used to water by hand (tap water) in the morning before going to work, but having to get up at 3:30 so I could water the trees got old really quick. I live at a 25 min drive from work, doing 80 on cruise control, if I leave anytime close to 5am, I have to add around 15 min to that drive. After 6, its a 45 min drive, at least.

I am thinking about setting up a reverse osmosis set up with a tank and pump, but the fact that the most efficient RO system waste 1 gal per gallon of RO water is ridiculous, so I may try to make a clone of my DI system for washing cars instead. Still undecided if it is needed.

I have the cloth already, it is a 30%, haven't done it because of being lazy and the heat. Also, because I am thinking about repositioning my above ground planters, since I bought 2 more and I am awaiting delivery. But I need to get it done ASAP, even if it is a temporary thing.

good stuff - i bet that texas heat is no joke, even with drier air than we have, based on a visit i had in AZ in feb

still running a big American muscle car?
i remember you had a GTI vdub (or an audi?)

i love when i allocate enough time in morning to water before work...ive been doing evening waterings a lot lately
weekend mornings are my favorite time in general

work hard play hard, good living

We had about a week of temps over 90 here.
Been watering my deciduous and tropical trees twice a day
All are holding up so far. One of my maples leaves are a bit orangish from the heat, but not scorched or burnt tips
It did the same last year

Our humidity is not low, between 50-80%, temps close to the city have been between mid90's to low 100's this summer. Az is DRY...

Traded the Camaro for a GTI... the kid was struggling to fit in the back seat. And now tying to get a 4dr V8, but the used car prices are STUPID right now. So I may go for a V6, probably an S4 or the CT4-V Blackwing (my wife hates the Caddy!). Unless I can get my hands on an RS3... All the 4dr cars I like are WAY out of my budget. I don't know, in the end I may just swap a big turbo in the GTI and call it a day. I really want the RWD or AWD car because of the traction issues in the GTI. With the tune I have now I outrun my wife's 2022 SQ5, but from a dig she gets a few cars ahead of me, damn AWD.

yeah... I can't do evenings watering in our weather, I'm watering at 9:30 and by that time the BC are almost done with the water in the tubs. also, all my trees, with probably the exemption of 1 azalea are in inorganic media, so the excess water just runs out of the pots. for thirsty tees I have them in a small 1/2" saucer, that holds enough water till the next one kicks in at 3pm. My liquidambar was wilting by 3pm before I added the saucer.

wow on the cars. if the economy wasnt so bad i would probably have a weekend rig by now, but thats not even on the radar with everything going on now
and my gf and i trying for a kid in the next 4 mos
love me some s4 and the caddy. i like gti as well. im trying to keep a 2004 v6 4runner going as long as possible $$$ 165k on the clock, garaged, modded

interesting about your humidity, didnt know that. we get 95% on 90+* and its thicckk

good idea with the saucer and BC buckets, i saw them in one of your recent threads, on the ficus i believe

Been plenty hot and dry here as well, although we do get some afternoon showers roll in off the mountains from time to time. Usually just a brief sprinkle though.

My wife and I were just talking the other day about being ready for the fall season - we’ve have enough heat for our taste!

Sorry, I remember years past where it was very dry. Not so this years though. It seems like we get a significant rain 2-3 times a week.
Anyway, I just piped in to say beware of spider miter, that's their kind of weather. And check the browning on the spruce so you can rule mites out.

Just the opposite here. We had 5" of rain Tuesday, St.Louis and surrounding are had between 8-12 inches. flash flooding, roads and interstates closed. We had another big storm with significant rain yesterday. Weird here for this time of year.

I heard about flooding in some parts of the country, maybe Indiana or something on national news recently. Good luck with those conditions...feel bad for people who hydrolock their engines driving thru deep water $$ or have home damage/wet basements

I hear you...I went swimming and surfing during midday 95* and it was glorious in last couple weeks
Someday I hope to 4x4 and camp Colorado. Engineer pass Imogene Black bear pass. Looks beautiful

Yessir, my recreation of choice is mountain biking, heading up to the mountains today to ride some trails! Nice to escape the heat up there.

Here in Asheville it has rained almost every day for the last month. Not a ton, just 1/4” one day, 1/2” the next etc. So I haven’t had to water much at all, only on those hot days when a few trees dry out and need a second shot. Of course back in June we went without rain almost all month. The good thing is we haven’t gotten out of the 80s all summer.
