Drones

These are all custom builds.

The last one lifts 128 lbs for 22 minutes at full speed. It runs at 78 notts with no load for 1 hour 15 minutes.View attachment 164852 View attachment 164853 View attachment 164854 View attachment 164856
My only dabbling with drones consisted of a tiny little one with 6 rotors, maybe 2.5 inches full diameter... could probably lift a small bag of ganja across the street...
Even that little thing is super loud, I can only imagine the noise from a big boy like that!

Edit: the little one I have sounds like a swarm of angry bees.

Every time I send my UAV out to get weather readings, somebody attacks it. I'm going to arm it and start shooting anything that poses a threat. I don't give a shit about the law in this case. I'll be damned if I'm going to stand back while someone destroys my property.

I feel like the UAV wars are going to be a fun test of what happens when Don't Tread on Me types collide.
I have no problem with weather readings. I have a problem with people looking into my property and invading my privacy. Same goes with google earth and google street. I say to them..... Fuck OFF!

Yeah, I get a weird feeling when I'm in DC and I see the google car driving by with all the cameras...it's weird..
Makes me want to flip em the bird, but I'm always on the job....so I have to pretend to be normal.

If something on your property is visible from a public place*, it's not an invasion of your privacy to look at it.

*to be clear "airspace" law is far from settled in the United States, and I don't want to split hairs over whether the limit of a property owners control should be 83 feet or 10,000 ft. My point is just that, there's a height at which it's legal for things to fly above your property, and camera technology is only going to get better.

So if you want "privacy" close your blinds/put up a fence/keep things under a tent. Destroying other people's property is a recipe for escalation.

We use them at my work to do aerial surveying. We are licensed and our drones are licensed commercial aircraft. If you shoot one of ours down and get caught, you're going to jail. I'm not saying this to be crass because I understand that people don't like them, but as a warning of what can happen.

In the US, commercial aircraft can legally fly over any property without any notification or the property owner's permission. Despite that and the fact that we only survey for private entities, we have had push-back from several property owner's, including a gun club.

The commercial aircraft doesn't takes photos or videos but the drone does. Not sure if having the license will allow you to hoover that thing over someone's pool.

@M Frary has another option: walk around outside nekkid. One glance, the cameras would break, and eye would turn to salt! :p (Just goshin’ with ya Mike

Hey you want to - Maco [ look ] - fine - why the need to Youtube ?

I can see a new privacy law coming ,

Fly over with a plane ------------ okay ------------- but advertising what is
in someone's yard ---------- no no.

Years ago had folk posing as Health Inspectors, trying to enter. The idea was
to see what you have.
Lucked out, police took them at the front gate.

Last set of inspectors checking for mosquitoes, wanted to go into the house.
Said they had to check the kitchen.
No.

Privacy is privacy.
Good Day
Anthony

*Latest scam ----------- new Property Taxes, as oil prices have fallen.
Want to see what is in your house.
Really ?

I've yet to see a drone but if I do get one hovering around that actually is a great idea.
Especially if I start acting like I'm getting really excited to see the drone watching me.
