Delve into a newbies garden! 😎

Few random bits going on at my place...

Lots of new growth on the chunky field maple, weirdly my smaller field maple isn't putting out much growth at all.

Then there's my crepe myrtle which has put out a lot of growth since it's (badly done) chop.

Third picture is a seedling I removed from the crepe myrtle pot...vastly different looking to a crepe myrtle? A bit of research suggested it could be some form of peanut?! Any input would be great, I'm intruiged! And want to give it the appropriate care.

Fourth is my most promising looking fuschia... Seems to be doing very well in the ground, unsure about how it'll do in winter though? I have my other two in pots - aren't growing as vigorously but will be easier to manage winter. Should probably start removing flowers to help trunk growth.

Last up there's a lemon seedling that has just popped up. Planted a pip a few weeks ago, just from a store bought lemon for fun 😊🍋

The "red" and white fuchsia is really a stunning flower, such clean contrast between the 2 colors. The purple and red number 3 is quite nice, just the bright white in #2 pops at least in the photo. I love all Fuchsia.

These will become nice projects.

Yes the snowcap flowers are gorgeous! They're a tiny bit more pink than the photos capture, but really lovely. There's just something about fuchsias!

The chunky fuchsia arrived! Arrived really well packaged. It's looking a little floppy, hopefully some sunlight will sort that out.

One of the cuts has been sealed, the others not, is this something I need to rectify?

Happy with the little guy, hopefully it will start to thrive!

Attached several photos... Hope the following fuchsia lovers don't mind being tagged - would love your wisdom 😊

That is a great one, I really like it. Chunky indeed. Almost a "sumo", in that it is pretty short and squat.

Cut paste on bigger cuts helps them to heal. Once the cuts are a month or so old, adding cut paste will not make a difference. Only apply cut paste to freshly made cuts.

ill hold off on nicknaming the stump, but once again your selection seems legit, good job.
youre the reason i added a fuscia to my excel 'horticulture' want list.
good prices on the one with tag above...i have my eye on some azalea and a gardenia from big box store but
theyre around $20 still...waiting for a sale.
you order online it seems for your trees? im wondering how long before i open that can of worms (amazon, wigerts, etc.)

Cheers Leo! Yeah I thought as much about the cuts, hopefully they'll heal up OK 👍 Think I'll have a lot of fun with this one, and researching styling it!

Hahaa nickname it whatever you please, I'm curious! 😂

Thanks for the compliment, I think I'm definitely getting a better eye. Excited about this one. Ohh that's lovely to hear! Found anything good yet? I love fuchsia, the ones I have are all hardy where I live, but I am starting to think about winter care with them being in pots.

They'll be on sale soon I'm sure! £3 was actually the original price, couldn't argue with that at all. Those ones were from a local garden centre, pass it on the way to work so often pick bits up from there.

The chunky one was online from a seller I've bought from before - he's really good and reasonably priced. I've had great experiences ordering online 😁
