So i will join in and try to root some softwood cuttings from my other celtis i am training into a bonsai.
For proof this is going to be my donor tree:

nice trunk, nice bark and nice nebari. When is it potted?

Repotted last year and i am adviced not to repot it this year yet

It has nice movement, the base has it's obvious flaws. There are some small cut wounds that show no callus, how old looks the wood on the removed branches? Totally chop back is often hit or miss, depending on the species. Selling "risky" material is not a good thing to do in my opinion. I don't know the bark characteristics of Celtis, there are some patches that look a bit dodgy... Fingers crossed, it might be a good one...

I will have to wait for spring tough as the tree is still sleeping and ill have to wait to take the cuttings.
Once ill do ill document how i do it(try to do it) and post pictures as proof.
Once ill rooted one that will be my contest tree

Sounds great! Also great to see a more advanced tree as well. I would root as many as you can and enter several in different styles! More trees = more fun!

Yeah True but maybe ill grow just one in a pot and put a couple in the ground so i have only two on the bench to care for, if i would go for 3-4 trees with every species i have i wont have enough space or time to give them all equal attention and care to progress them.
Ofcourse i still want more trees but became more picky tough as i want to improve on quality not quantity!
