Cut apex of hinoki

Wondering thoughts on cutting apex of a Hinoki this time of year (heading I to Fall). I have nice cooler weather in high 60s to low 70s over next 2 weeks so started working on my Hinoki. Wondering thoughts of cutting top down? As it is it’s too tall to fit in my cold frame over winter so would like to reduce but not sure how a large chop will do in fall.

Chop to the height you need, minus room for the new leader you’ll need to wire up to replace the old leader.
