And yes, ERC is actually a member of the juniper family. Here is another mower-ravaged roadside tree. 5 minute drive, 5 minute dig, 5 minute potting and 5 minute styling. I did a little cleaning of the unwanted sprouts and bent a few branches down manually. As close to a ready-made bonsai as you're likely to find. I'll up pot this tree as it fills this pot with roots. I foresee a tree with a trunk 3 times as big and maybe 2-3 " taller.

I have a handful of red cedars I've dug up. 2 were mower pruned and in my lawn and 2 were about a 15" tall when I dug them. Had them for a few years now. Only 1 rust issue and I cut the infected branch off and haven't seen any more since. Good luck with them and keep us updated.
