Crab Apple Thread

One of my apples with couple of fruits. Tree is in early stage of development though.

Like the pot colors
Thanks, probably first pot I bought during my start with bonsai. It was empty when this tree came to my garden in plastic pot, so I just slip potted it there for practical reasons.

Nice! Got a close-up of those that hollow trunk?
There are to wounds on trunk. Upper is no problem, will be edited soon with Dremel and will heal. One at the base, wood just rotted away it came to my hands in this stage year or two ago. Hollow part is not looking good, I hope to edit it in some way. Possibly let the tree grow uninterrupted (in bigger pot eventually) so it gains girth and hollow part will be callused over partly.

Heres a wild malus, guessing crab as I havent seen flowers or fruit. I fought off borers real hard this spring, I'm assuming thats what helped form this gnar little raft clump forest thing. I have plans to bring the trees way down to shohin size next year. I kind of wished I cut it back harder when I dug it up this spring. 1006171751.jpg 1006171752a.jpg

Nice trees and projects here.
Been playing with few of them, here's a naked picture of my shohin size red crabapple - M. x Purpurea, ugly, weird or whatever you call the trunk, but I like it...

Some M. halliana from starter material, I'll have to figure out where to go with it...

Two years ago I cut the root attached to high to the trunk and left it there... It sprouted and was growing tree trunks. Repotted in spring, I'm very surprised what's going on. The tree is suckering everywhere, actually there's at least 7-9 trunks, some distances are more than 3-4 inches. Looking forward to what I'll find under the soil. Pretty difficult to capture what I'm talking about.

Here’s mine. I sacrificed almost all advancement on the top to get it into a shallower pot this year and formalize it’s future as a shohin. Next year should be a better year to tighten up the structure. Nice Roy Minerai pot...

Nice one
Your leaves look just like mine(the brownish not healthy looking parts) do you have any clue on how that comes ?
Is that sunburn or fungal issues?
