Cork bark Japanese Maple (Hubble's)

L

Looks like you are in for a rough ride this summer....but if anyone can do it, it probably be you. With all that going on you still able to repot trees
This past few months have been chaotic, plus the daughter is on volleyball club and they have tournaments every other week and practices weekly, and every weekend they don't have tournament. Thankfully she is playing regional this year so not traveling that "far".

Cork is slowly developing on the trunk... I'm going to airlayer the graft soon and contemplating wether to airlayer as a twin trunk as the top picture, or airlayer the lower portion as well as a single tree. Lots of elongating shoots up top, I am going to try to get some cuttings to root. The root stock is developing a branch and I think I am going to layer the top and do my best to save it. The leaves are healthier than the cork JM, which is a good sign here.

Wow nice 👍

Nice to read about your Super Cork. I just ordered one this morning from Maple Ridge Nursery. I was getting a Deshojo, that had just been restocked and saw this one that looked interesting, so I bought it too. I think I have a problem.... 🤫

Hubbles getting a little fall color for Texas... We finally got some fall weather, still no weather below 32 advised for this month, but that can change any day.

Past peak, but for the conditions it grew this year I think it looks good.

My other momiji and kotohime didn't turn color this year. The arakawa air layers did, but I didn't get a chance to take pics of them, they did turn yellow, no red or oranges.
