I'm a potter and I'm curious about the production methods of some of the antique Chinese and big name Japanese potters.
Were most of the antique Chinese pots (Kowatari-Nakawatari era) slip cast or press molded? Were many slab constructed?
Did Kouzan and Syuzan use molds or was there work mostly done with slabs. Would molds have been used too?
I've seen some rounds of Syuzan and don't see any throw rings, so I suspect that they weren't made on a wheel.
