Well, not near the quality of the Chicago show, but feel like I should do my part to post the photos that I got of the show. I didn't get to take any myself as there was a power outage just when I was getting ready to take them. So I bummed some from another member. Here they are.

The power outage would have been your best friend. Nothing like taking photos of trees in the dark. The flash highlights just the tree. Thanks for sharing these though. I love the pictures from around the country.

Yes, I know, the photos were sent to me that small. I couldn't figure out a way to upsize them. It was too chaotic to be taking photos when everyone was just trying not to fall all over each other, and make sure none of the trees were made off with. There was no emergency lighting in the room if you can believe that, and the light thru the windows wasn't bright as there was a huge storm passing through.

Thanks for posting! Can you tell me what the species is in the 3rd photo in your second post? Is it a ficus? Leaves look large and fairly round.

Living in a very cold, snowy place, I can understand the allure of ficus (and tropicals in general). The landscape here is bleak and barren from November into April or even May - almost half the year. It's nice to have something green in the house during that time.

Congratulations on the red ribbon, Judy!
Thanks Adair! took the 3rd and 4th as well:). I was very surprised that my little kingsville took the 4th. It's such a small tree, and they usually get passed over for larger trees. I was also a bit surprised that my hornbeam didn't place. I'll be looking for ways to improve that one in the coming year.

This has nothing to do with your trees, Judy, but from what I could see in the pictures, the show looks a little crowded. The trees are too close together, and it's hard to tell which accent goes with which tree!

I'd almost prefer to see them without accents, since the tables were so crowded.

I agree that it was too close together. The people who set the trees brought and did all the accent plants, so I'm not sure how they decided to set them with which trees. I didn't even know it was happening until I saw the show. I helped out with table setting the night before they set the trees. I guess it's good on this level that people participate, so a good thing there were lots of trees.

Judy, the shohin box display... Was that several club members trees? And set up impromptu at set up time? I'm thinking that the display would be improved if the positions of the top tree and the lower right tree were swapped.

At Boon's show back in January, one club member brought the box stand, and several members brought shohin trees. Then we got to play mix and match until the best combination was found. The trees that didn't get placed in the box display were used in 3 point displays. (Much easier to do!)

Yes, two of the trees were mine, and the rest belonged to others. We didn't get to have any input on placement. It went to the MABA show a week before this show, so this was the first time I saw it put together. I have no idea what the thinking was on placement, or if there was even really any thought put into it at all.

Here are some photos of this year's show! Just cell phone pics I took, not the greatest. Figured I'd share!
