At the Franklin Park Conservatory, Columbus Ohio there will be an Orchid Show, Saturday & Sunday, Nov. 8 & 9, 10 am to 5 pm.
One display, of a friend from Orquideas del Valle, Cali, Colombia, will feature a single bonsai tree, mine, and an array of miniature orchids many of which will be suitable for kusamono.
I have no business connection with Orquideas del Valle, but the owner is a dear friend, and I am loaning her my somewhat pitiful looking shohin pine. She can't bring in bonsai on her import permits, and wants to emphasize the possible use of miniature orchids as bonsai.
I'll have my own orchid sales table, only a few will be miniatures, but I will bring some dwarf cultivars of tropical bamboo which definitely would work as a bonsai or kusamono.
