Until you get it out of the ground and see what the dirt is hiding, making styling decisions is most definitely premature. I would keep every major branch for now, excluding those that have absolutely no chance of being part of the design. Once it's potted up, examine it closely from every angle while the tree is recovering. Eventually, the best design will make itself apparent to you.

That's kinda what I figured -- it's still so up-in-the-air...but it's always nice to dream.
