I know it’s late in the season….. but when you see a specimen or in my case 3….. ya gotta act. I collected one about this time last year and kept it alive. So I think I’ll be okay…. I’m just looking for tips and trick or general suggestions for these 3 collected maples. Should I prune them back? (Collected on 5/27/24 in Northeast CT)

Catalonia gets hot and dry in summer if I recall correctly.
As it is completely unclear what you have collected and how your rootballs look, consider a defoliation if indeed it is hot already

Sorry, Connecticut not Catalonia
It’s barely 70’s most days with above average rainfall for the year

I’ve reduced the canopy on trees collected out of season and had som positive results by reducing the amount of foliage significantly… depending on the state of the roots.

I'd recommend defoliation for late collections too. Usually collected trees will drop leaves to survive but it may take a few weeks, sometimes a month or more to get going again. Defoliation seems to take away some of the stress and let them get started sooner.

Full or partial defoliation? And we are talking about cutting the leaf stems and then letting them drop off?

Just remove them all.
Cutting the petiole reduces the risk of damaging the bud sitting at the base of a leaf, but I also manually strip leaves, going from the trunk outwards using an open fist around branches.
